Case Study – Installation of the N3 GP Next Generation Access Programme (2013)

N3 is the NHS national broadband network linking hospitals, medical centres and GPs in England and Scotland.

The network provides:

Increased bandwidth via Next Generation Access connections leading to improved upstream and downstream speed for users.
Modern and more reliable customer premises equipment resulting in fewer technical issues and downtime for users.
Retirement of 1st Generation Access products like ISDN.

KFP Comms UK Ltd were chosen by the NHS to facilitate the migration to N3 across 54 No sites within the Berkshire area. The works involved the installation of site specific wall mounted comms enclosures, (ranging from standard and slim line varieties to acoustically enabled for installations within noise sensitive locations) to house the required new routers along with the installation of site specific cabling dependant on the relevant individual GP requirements.
